Slalom Hero: steer between the gates and beat the clock
Slalom Hero is a 3D alpine skiing race by the Canadian studio b10b in which you steer a skier down a snowy course, passing slalom gates and collecting boosts to finish under a medal time. The game's own How to Play screen sums it up: choose your hero, compete across three courses in the slalom event, and try to win a gold medal. Every run shows its targets in the top-left corner; on the first course gold is 28 seconds, silver 30 and bronze 40. A speedometer in km/h sits on the right, and it drops to single digits the moment your skier leaves the groomed line, so steering matters more than raw speed.

How to play Slalom Hero
A run is a time trial. You race alone against three medal times, and the timer keeps going until you reach the finish.

Choose a skier
Press Play Now, then pick Men or Women. Each card lists four ratings: Speed, Edging, Agility and Boost, and the two skiers are rated differently.

Read the medal times
The top-left panel lists the time to beat for gold, silver and bronze on the course you are about to ski.

Steer through the gates
Use the left and right arrow keys to swing between the red gate flags. Each flag carries a white arrow showing which side to pass.

Collect boosts and coins
Boosts shorten your time on the current run. GamePix says coins pay for upgrades to your skier's stats, and medals unlock the next course.

Four skier ratings

Tips for Slalom Hero
- Follow the flag arrows. Each red gate shows a white arrow; turn early so you pass on that side without a sharp correction.
- Stay on the groomed snow. In our test the speed fell from over 120 km/h to single digits once the skier drifted off course.
- Aim for bronze first. On course one bronze allows 40 seconds against 28 for gold, a 12-second margin to learn the line.
- Correct in small steps. If a gate is only slightly off line, a short key press is usually enough; a long hold swings the skier across the slope.
- Spend coins on the weakest bar. Compare the four ratings on the selection card and upgrade the one that is shortest.
