Brush the Cat — Same Two Real Cats, a New Cattitude Every Day
Brush the Cat is a free browser game starring two very real cats — Daxi the Ragdoll and Mochi the British Shorthair — who have not fully agreed to be groomed. You pick the cat; the cattitude changes daily, generated from the date so the whole world battles the exact same temper. Every stroke sheds real tufts of loose fur — each tuft is a point — but the moment the cat turns to stare, you freeze or you get bitten. No download, no signup, and it plays great on phones.
How to Play Brush the Cat
This cat brushing game runs on one simple rule: brushing sheds fur, staring kills. Keep stroking the cat's coat to send tufts of loose fur drifting down into your fur pile — every tuft is a point — and watch for the warning sign: ears flattening into airplane ears means a death stare is coming. If the cat is looking at you, do not move. Some glances are feints designed to bait you into stopping; the real ones end your run with a bite if your brush is still in motion.
Keyboard / Mouse
- Hold the left mouse button and move to brush the cat's fur
- Keep brushing without pauses to keep the fur flying and your streak alive
- When the cat turns its head, stop moving — holding still is always safe
- Every smooth stroke sheds tufts of loose fur — watch them drift down into the pile at the bottom
- Release or freeze instantly the moment you see ears twitch or the tail go up
Touch
- Touch and drag your finger across the cat to brush
- Keep your finger moving in smooth strokes — every stroke sheds fur and feeds your streak
- Freeze your finger in place during a stare — lifting or moving gets you bitten
- Longer, smoother swipes shed more fur than short, scrubby ones
- Works in any mobile browser, portrait or landscape — no app install needed
Features
Two Real Cats, One Daily Cattitude
A date-based seed generates today's temperament at midnight UTC, so every player on Earth faces the exact same mood parameters. You pick whether Daxi or Mochi takes the brush — but nobody gets an easier temper than you.
12 Cat Personalities
From the slow, forgiving Sleepy Softie to the merciless Grumpy Tyrant and the utterly unreadable Chaos Goblin — each personality changes how often the cat turns, how long it stares, and how much it bluffs.
Streak Counter
Every point earned within two seconds of the last one extends your streak by one. Stop for more than two seconds and it resets to zero. The best runs are an unbroken, nerve-wracking rhythm of strokes and freezes.
A Growing Fur Pile
Every tuft you brush off drifts down into a fur pile at the bottom of the screen. The pile grows through five stages as your score climbs — your run's loot, stacking up in plain sight while the cat pretends not to care.
Three Leaderboards
Compete on the daily board, the all-time board, and lifetime career score. Unlimited retries — only your best run of the day counts, so one bite never ruins your evening.
Free, Instant, Everywhere
100% free browser game with no download, no account, and no paywall. This cat brushing game works on desktop, tablet, and phone with full touch support — a round takes under a minute to start.
Scoring
Your score is the fur you collect: every effective stroke sheds 2–3 tufts of loose fur, and every tuft is worth exactly 1 point. Each day's temperament brings its own shed rate — some days the fur drops in clouds, other days you work for every tuft. Score again within two seconds to extend your streak; pause longer and it resets to zero. Your final score is every tuft you banked before the bite.
Daily Rankings
Because everyone plays against the same date-seeded temperament, this daily cat game has genuinely fair leaderboards: a today's ranking that resets at midnight UTC, an all-time best-run board, and a cumulative career score across every day you have played. No registration is required — your device identifies you anonymously, you can retry as many times as you like, and only your highest score of the day is submitted.
Strategies
- Learn the tells before chasing score: the cat always flattens its ears back before turning. Spot the wind-up, stop early, survive.
- Do not flinch at feints. Fake glances are designed to break your streak — but stopping briefly only costs momentum, while brushing through a real stare costs the entire run. When unsure, freeze.
- Holding still is always safe. The cat never punishes a frozen brush, so treat every stare as a free breather and resume the instant it looks away.
- Resume brushing the instant a real stare ends — that is your longest guaranteed safe window for long, fur-heavy strokes.
- Favor long, smooth strokes over short scrubbing. Every completed stroke sheds a fresh burst of tufts, and each one refreshes your two-second streak window while the pile keeps growing.
- Score early and fast. Difficulty ramps up the longer a run lasts — the cat turns more often and stares less predictably — so the opening minute is your cheapest scoring window.
- Check today's personality before committing. A throwaway first run against a Patient Trapper or Fake Sleeper teaches you its rhythm and is worth far more than a blind high-score attempt.
