Multiplayer Snake: the classic game, now with friends and tail cutting
Multiplayer Snake keeps everything you know from the classic grid game—eat, grow, don't hit the wall—and puts up to eight players on the same board at once. The new rule is the cut: run your head into another snake's body and you slice it in two. The owner keeps the front part, you grow by half of what you cut off, and the other half spills onto the board as food for anyone quick enough. Rounds last three minutes, the walls close in during the last minute, and whoever is longest when the timer hits zero wins. How to play Multiplayer Snake
Every snake moves about seven squares per second. You only choose the direction. You start at length 4 in a random spot, as far as possible from the other snakes, marked with YOU and an arrow. Your snake waits there, see-through and safe, until you press a direction or three seconds pass.

Eat to grow
Red dots add one segment. The rare gold dot adds three. New food appears as soon as some is eaten.

Cut other snakes
Steer your head into any part of another snake except its head. Everything behind that point is cut off: you gain half of it and the rest turns into food.

Avoid walls and head-on hits
Hitting the edge ends that life. If two heads meet, the shorter snake dies; equal lengths both die. You respawn at length 4 after three seconds.

Be longest at the buzzer
After three minutes the round ends and snakes are ranked by length. A new round starts eight seconds later.

Cutting instead of instant death
Bumping into a body does not end your game; it cuts the other snake. A long lead is never safe, and a short snake can come back with one good bite.
Three-minute snake battle rounds
Short rounds keep the pressure on. In the last minute the walls move in one square every four seconds, pushing everyone together for the finish.

Tips for winning a round
- Cut near the tail, not the head. Biting close to another snake's head means you have to be right next to it, which risks a head-on crash if it is longer than you.
- Collect the spill. Half of every cut turns into food on the spot. Circling a fight and eating the leftovers is often worth more than the bite itself.
- Don't coil too tight. Running into your own body cuts off your own tail, and those segments become food for everyone else.
- Watch the border. The frame flashes red just before it moves. Stay a few squares away from the edge in the last minute.
- Stay long at the end. Only the length at the buzzer counts, so in the final seconds avoiding cuts matters more than chasing food.

Rooms, bots and fair play
Quick play puts you in an open public room; each room holds up to 8 people. When fewer than 6 players are in a room, BOT snakes join so there are always 6 snakes on the board, and they leave again as people arrive. BOT names always start with BOT. The server runs the game and decides every collision, so all players see the same board and nobody can change their length from their own browser. The room status in the bottom left corner shows your connection and ping. If the connection drops, the game tries to reconnect and otherwise continues offline against bots.
