Funny Food Duel: one plate, two pets, one button each

Funny Food Duel is a reflex game from Go Panda Games in which two cartoon pets sit on either side of a covered dish and race to eat whatever appears when the lid lifts. Each side has exactly one button. Eating a healthy dish earns a point, eating a frozen or rotten one costs a point, and the first pet to 8 wins, according to Poki's description. The game can be played against the computer or by two people sharing one keyboard: Player 1 presses A, Player 2 presses the Left arrow key. Every match has a time limit; if nobody reaches the target before it runs out, the pet that has eaten more wins.

How to play Funny Food Duel

A duel is a string of short rounds. Each round the silver cloche lifts, one dish is revealed, and whoever presses first gets it — good or bad.

Choose 1 Player or 2 Player
1 Player puts you against the computer. 2 Player is for two people at one keyboard.

Pick the pets
Click the PLAYER 1 box, then a pet from the bottom row; do the same for PLAYER 2, then click the glowing VS badge.

Wait for the lid
A tutorial board shows which foods to eat and which to leave. Click anywhere to start, and watch the cloche on the table.

Press only for good food
When a healthy dish appears, hit your key first to eat it and fill one slot of your bar. Let frozen or rotten food go to your rival.

Bad food punishes the fastest

Frozen food briefly freezes the pet that eats it and rotten food makes it sick, so pressing blindly can lose the round.

The select screen holds 24 pets: 12 unlocked, 12 behind padlocks or video icons. All of them play the same way.

Unlocks from winning

Winning duels unlocks more characters; some locked tiles can also be opened by watching a video.

Tips for Funny Food Duel

Let the lid rise before you press. GamePix's tip: every dish glows, so wait until enough of it is visible to tell what it is.
Leaving a bad dish is a win. Frozen and rotten food cost the eater a point, so letting your rival grab one helps you.
Keep your finger resting on the key. The duel is decided by who reacts first, so lifting your hand wastes time.
Use the clock. If you lead when the timer runs out, you win, so a lead late in the match means you only need to avoid bad food.
Swap sides between rematches. The A player sits on the left and the arrow player on the right; changing seats is fairer for a best-of series.

Each player has a bar at the top of the screen, and in our match a healthy burger lit one slot of Player 1's bar. Poki's rules are +1 for healthy food, −1 for frozen or rotten food, and first to 8 wins. A countdown clock sits between the two bars; when it ends, the pet that has eaten more takes the match.
