Twirl: let the level goal choose your next move
Twirl is TapLabGames’ level-based block puzzle. Drag shapes onto the board and fill horizontal or vertical lines to remove them while working toward the current stage’s objective. The game awards stars for level performance, so a convenient placement is useful only when it also supports the task.
Quick facts

- Different objectives across levels
- Stars reflect level performance
How to play
Read the current goal before arranging shapes. This is a sequence of puzzle stages, so a strategy that worked in one layout may need adjusting in the next.
- 1
Read the stage objective
Locate the goal shown inside the game. Decide which board areas and line clears will contribute to it instead of treating every level as an endless score run.
- 2
Place a shape precisely
Hold a shape, drag it to a legal opening, and release. Check its whole footprint; a useful-looking position still fails if part of the shape overlaps occupied cells.
- 3
Use clears to reach the goal
Finish horizontal rows or vertical columns to remove their blocks. Then inspect both the updated board and objective progress before choosing another placement.
Controls
Desktop controls
- Use the left mouse button to hold and drag a shape. Release over the intended opening.
- Select menus and level choices with the pointer controls shown by the game.
Phone and tablet
- Use a finger to drag the offered shape into its landing area.
- Keep the objective and board visible together when deciding where a piece should go.
What makes this puzzle different
A goal for each stage
The stage objective gives placements a purpose beyond simply filling space. Revisit the objective when a clear changes the board.
Performance stars
Twirl describes star rewards for completing levels. Follow the displayed evaluation rather than assuming every completed stage earns the maximum.
Practical placement tips
- Prioritise a clear that advances the visible goal over an equally easy clear elsewhere on the board.
- Before filling a small gap, check whether it is the only route to a larger open area that another shape needs.
- After completing a line, pause to count what still remains for the objective; the cleared cells may give you a more direct route than your original plan.
Who might enjoy it
Fans of short puzzle stages
A defined objective offers a stopping point for players who prefer completing a task to chasing an endless run.
Players who revisit levels
The star system gives a reason to think about how a stage was solved, alongside whether it was completed.
Score, goals and the end of a round
Advance by satisfying the level objective displayed in the game. Stars describe your performance, but this guide does not assign an invented move limit or star threshold. If a stage becomes blocked, restart and reconsider the early placements that consumed its useful spaces. Completion requirements should be read again whenever you enter a new level.
Game questions answered
What is the goal in Twirl?+
Complete the current level’s objective by placing shapes and clearing filled lines. Check the stage’s own goal display because objectives vary during the game.
How do you remove blocks in Twirl?+
Fill an entire horizontal row or vertical column. The completed line disappears and creates fresh room for subsequent placements.
Does every completed level give all the stars?+
Not necessarily. The published description ties stars to level performance. Use the game’s evaluation to see what your solution achieved.
How is Twirl different from an endless block puzzle?+
Twirl organises play around individual stages with goals. A placement should help finish that stage, rather than only keep an unrestricted score run alive.
